How do I uninstall or re-install ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus? (3.x)
KB Solution ID: SOLN93|Last Revised: September 08, 2011Due to newer program releases or corrupted installations, reinstalling your ESET security product is sometimes necessary. Follow the steps below to download, uninstall and reinstall your ESET security product.
Download
- Download your ESET security product using one of the links below for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista.
You will need your unique username and password to download your ESET security product. Please reference your confirmation email for this information or click here to retrieve your username and password.
32-bit:
ESET Smart Security 3.0 ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0
64-bit:
- When prompted, select Save and save the file to your Desktop.
Uninstall

Click Start
Programs
ESET
Uninstall. After you uninstall, you will need to restart your computer. -
After restarting, confirm that you can see hidden files and folders by clicking Start
Control Panel
Folder Options
View and select the Show hidden files and folders option. -
Click Start
My Computer and then navigate to and delete the following folders:C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\ESETWindows Vista/7 Users must delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\ESET
C:\ProgramData\ESET
Reinstall
- Navigate to your Desktop where you saved the ESET installation package and double-click it to open.
- Follow the instructions in the ESET Installation Wizard to install your ESET security product.
