Can I easily move ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) clients from one server to another? (5.x)

A new version has been released

Version 6 of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) and ESET business products were released in North America December 11th, 2014, and globally February 25th, 2015. In ESET Remote Administrator

There are two ways to migrate clients in ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) 5.x. We recommend the Policy migration method for most users, however you can also perform a Configuration task migration. Expand the appropriate section below to view instructions for either method:
 

Policy migration
  1. Open the ESET Remote Administrator console (ERAC) by double-clicking the ESET Remote Administrator Console icon on your Desktop, or by clicking Start All Programs ESET ESET Remote Administrator Console ESET Remote Administrator Console.
     
  2. Click Tools Policy Manager.

  1. Select the policy to which clients you want to migrate are assigned and click Edit.

  1. Expand Windows product line v3 and v4 (ESET) Kernel Settings Remote administration, select Primary server address and enter the address of your new ERA Server. After entering the new server address, make sure that the square icon next to this setting is blue for marked. If it is not blue, click Mark.

  1. Expand Windows desktop v5 Kernel Settings Remote administration, select Primary server address and enter the address of your new ERA Server. After entering the new server address, make sure that the square icon next to this setting is blue for marked. If it is not blue, click Mark.

  1. Click Console Yes and click OK when the Warning notification is displayed.

  1. Click OK to exit ESET Policy Manager.
     
  2. Right-click any client that you want to migrate and select Set Policy from the context menu.

  1. Select the policy where you just entered your new ERA Server address and click Set Policy.

Configuration task migration
  1. Install ESET Remote Administrator Server (ERAS) on your new server computer and obtain the IP address for this machine.
     
  2. Open the ESET Remote Administrator console (ERAC) by double-clicking the ESET Remote Administrator Console icon on your Desktop, or by clicking Start All Programs ESET ESET Remote Administrator Console ESET Remote Administrator Console.
     
  3. In the Clients tab, select the client workstations for which you want to change the primary server. Right-click these clients and select New task Configuration task from the context menu.

  1. Click Create.

  1. Expand Windows desktop v5 Kernel Settings Remote administration and then click Primary server address. View paths for other ESET products
     
  2. Type the IP address of your new server into the Value field.

  1. Expand Windows desktop v5 Update Profile Settings, and then click Update server. View paths for other ESET products
     
  2. Type the IP address and port # of the new server into the Value field in the form http://xxx.xxx.x.x:xxxx

  1. Click Console and then click Yes to save your changes. Client workstations assigned to this policy will inherit your new server settings the next time that they check into the ERAS.

Client workstations not appearing?

If your client workstations are not appearing in the Clients tab of the new ESET Remote Administrator installation, follow the link below for step-by-step instructions on how to resolve this issue:
 

 


 

On individual client workstations

  1. Open ESET Endpoint Security. How do I open my ESET product?
     
  2. Press F5 to access advanced setup.
     
  3. Expand Tools Remote administration.
     
  4. Type the IP address for your new primary server into the Server address field in the Primary server tab and then click OK.
