Solution

You must uninstall any previously installed antivirus software from your system before installing your ESET product. See the Knowledgebase article below for step-by-step instructions.

II. Download the ESET Live Installer

1. Click the link below to download (ESET Live Installer will automatically detect your operating system and bit-architecture):
   

   Download ESET Live Installer

2. Click Save when prompted and save the file to your Desktop.
    
3. Once the download has completed, you may be prompted to click Run and begin the installation process. If the installer does not run automatically, navigate to your Desktop or wherever you saved the download file and double-click it to open. When you are ready, continue to part III.
    

III. Install ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5

Follow the steps below to install your product: 

1. On the welcome screen, make sure that the correct language is selected and click Install to begin.

2. In the End-User License Agreement window, click I Accept to continue.

3. In the next window, select the check box next to Yes, I want to participate (recommended) and click Next to continue.

4. In the Detection of potentially unwanted applications window, select your preferred option (see What is a potentially unwanted application?) and click Next.

5. Once the installation is complete, click Finish to exit the installation wizard.

6. If you are installing an ESET security product on your system for the first time, the Product Activation window will open automatically. Select Activate using username and password and click Next to continue.
   
   

   Important!

   If you are installing ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 over an existing ESET security product, your security product will automatically update with the appropriate credentials and download the latest virus signature database updates.

7. In the Activate using a username and password window, enter your ESET-issued Username and Password. If you forgot your Username or Password, refer to your license email or visit our lost license page to have it emailed to you.

8. Click Activate to continue.

Installing and activating NOD32 Antivirus 5 from a CD

1. Insert the CD included in your boxed retail product into your computer. If the installation does not begin automatically, click Start Computer and double-click the ESET disc icon . 

2. Click Install on the Launch Screen.

3. The ESET NOD32 Antivirus Setup window will open. Click Next to continue.

4. Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.

5. In the Installation Mode window, select Typical (recommended best settings) and click Next.
   
   

   Important!

   If you are installing ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 over a previous version you will see the window below (see Figure 2-4). Make sure the check box next to Use current settings (recommended) is selected and click Next to continue.

6. In the ESET Live Grid window, select I agree to participate in ESET Live Grid (recommended) and click Next.

7. In the Detection of potentially unwanted applications window, select your preferred option (see What is a potentially unwanted application?) and click Next.

8. In the Ready to Install window, click Install to continue.

9. In the Completing the ESET NOD32 Antivirus Setup Wizard window, click Finish.

10. In the Product Activation Type window, select Activate using an Activation Key (recommended) and click Next to continue.

11. In the Activate using an Activation Key window, fill out all of the required fields. When you are finished, click Next to continue.

12. If you entered the Activation key correctly, your ESET security product will automatically download the latest virus signature database. Installation is complete.
