To download and install ESET Mobile Security for Android purchased on ESET.com on your Android 2.3.x (Gingerbread) or 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) device, follow this article's step-by-step instructions.

If you are unsure which version of Android you are running, press the Menu button, tap Settings About phone and look at the number under "Android version" (some users may also need to tap "Software information").

1. From the Android home screen, press the Menu button and tap Settings Applications. Enable Unknown sources by tapping the check box. Tap Ok when asked to confirm your selection.

2. There are three options to download ESET Mobile Security for Android. Please select one from the options below:

   
   Option 1 (On your phone): Download the installer file (ems.apk) on your phone by tapping the following button:
   
   ESET Mobile Security for Android (phone)
   
   Follow the instructions in the section below: Option 1 and Option 2: Install using your phone.
   
   Option 2 (On your phone): Download the installer file (ems.apk) directly to your phone by scanning the QR code below.
   
   NOTE: To scan a QR code, you will need a QR scanning app which can be downloaded from Google Play (formerly Android Marketplace) by searching for "barcode scanner".
   

   

   
   
   Follow the instructions in the section below: Option 1 and Option 2: Install using your phone.
   
   Option 3 (On your computer): You can download the installer file (ems.apk) with your computer and copy the file to your phone via USB. Click the following button and save the file to your Desktop:
   
   ESET Mobile Security for Android (computer)
   
   Follow the instructions in the section below: Option 3: Install using computer and USB cable.
   
   

Option 1 and Option 2: Install using your phone

1. After the download is complete, tap the file from the Android Notification Bar or open your Downloads folder and tap ems.apk.

2. At the installation confirmation screen, tap Install to begin the installation.

3. Tap Open or Done when the installation is complete.

4. ESET Mobile Security will open and display the End User License Agreement (EULA). Tap I Accept to continue.

5. In the main program window, tap Activate now Activate using a Username and Password.

6. Enter your ESET-issued Username and Password into the appropriate fields. Enter your email address into the Email field. Tap Activate when you are finished.

Option 3: Install using computer and USB cable 

1. After your download is complete, connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable. Drag the Android Notifcation Bar down and tap Charge only.

2. SD Card (memory card) phones: On your phone, tap USB connection Mass Storage device USB Mass Storage and then tap OK
   
   Phones without SD Card (memory card): On your phone, tap Disk drive.
    
3. On your computer, navigate to your Desktop or wherever you saved the installer file (ems.apk) and copy it to your phone.
    
   
4. Disconnect your phone from the computer.
    
5. On your phone, tap the "All Apps" button, navigate to Downloads or the Files folder Download and then tap ems.apk to begin the installation.
    
6. At the installation confirmation screen, tap Install to begin the installation.

7. Tap Open when the installation is complete.
