How do I delete the ehdrv driver using device manager in Microsoft Windows?

  • You recently uninstalled your ESET product
  • The ehdrv driver is causing complications while installing an ESET product


I. Delete ehdrv.sys from your computer

  1. Click Start My Computer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
  2. In the file explorer window, right-click ehdrv.sys and select Delete from the context menu.

In some cases, the ehdrv.sys file will still appear in the Drivers folder even after you have deleted it. Ignore this and continue to part II below.

II. Uninstall the ehdrv driver using Device Manager

  1. Click Start, right-click My Computer and select Properties.

    1. XP users: click the Device Manager tab. 
    2. Vista / Windows 7 users: click Device Manager under Tasks on the left side of the window.
  2. In the Device Manager window, click View Show hidden devices

  3. Expand Non-Plug and Play drivers

  4. Select ehdrv and click the Uninstall button (see figure 2-3).

  5. In the Confirm Device Uninstall window, click OK.
