Solution

Select the version of ESET that you currently have:

• Version 5.x or later
• Version 4.x or earlier

How can I tell which version of ESET I have?

Version 5.x or later

1. Open Your ESET product. How do I open my ESET product?
    
2. Click Update. The latest version of your ESET product will be displayed under Available version of ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus (see Figure 1-2).
    
3. Click Install | Check.

4. The latest version will automatically be downloaded and installed.

5. Once you receive the notification "The program modules have been updated," restart your computer. If you experience issues or installation errors, see the Troubleshooting section below.

Troubleshooting

• Error 2878
• "Product activation fails," error 0008 or error 0009
  
• Additional activation issues
• "Virus signature database update failed"
• "Installation ended prematurely"

Version 4.x or earlier

1. Click the link below that corresponds to your ESET product to download ESET live installer. Save the file to your desktop.

   ESET NOD32 Antivirus    ESET Smart Security

2. Uninstall your current ESET product:
   1. Click Start All Programs ESET Uninstall.
   2. Once uninstallation is complete, restart your computer.
       
3. Double-click the file that you downloaded in step 1 and follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest version of your product.
