Why is the ESET Remote Administrator Server not updating to the most recent virus signature database?
KB Solution ID: SOLN2220|Last Revised: May 17, 2012Occasionally, ESET Remote Administrator Server fails to update to the most current version of the virus signature database. There are two solutions to correct this issue, please start with solution 1 and only continue to solution 2 if the issue is not resolved.
Solution 1: Clear the Mirror and update files on the server
It may be necessary to clear the mirror and the update files on the server. To remove these files and resume updates, follow the steps below:

Right-click Start and select Explore from the context menu.
Navigate to and delete the contents of the following folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\Updfiles
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\Charon
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\MirrorWindows Vista and Windows 7 users: Navigate to and delete the contents of the following folders:
C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\updfiles
C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\charon
C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\mirror -
In the ESET Remote Administrator Console menu, click Tools
Server Options… and select the Updates tab. -
Select the Clear Update Cache check box and click Update Now. Click OK.

You can either force an update to your clients immediately or allow them to check for updates as normal.
If after performing this procedure ESET Remote Administrator Server still fails to update, continue to solution 2 below.
Solution 2: Restart the ESET Remote Administrator Server service
In some cases, it is necessary to restart the ESET Remote Administrator service after Mirror and update files have been cleared. To do so, follow the instructions below:
- Click Start
Run, enter services.mscand then click OK.
- Restart the ESET Remote Administrator Server service and then click OK.

- Open the ESET Remote Administrator Console by clicking Start
All Programs
ESET
ESET Remote Administrator Console.
- Click Tools
Server Options and then click the Update tab and click Update now.
