How do I remotely install ESET NOD32 Antivirus on Windows Home Server? (4.x)

KB Solution ID: SOLN2212|Last Revised: April 10, 2014

You can install ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.x Home Edition on your Windows Home Server PC using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). The installation process is slightly different from the Windows Vista or Windows XP process.

Please follow the steps below to download and install your ESET NOD32 Antivirus on a computer running Windows Home Server:

"Headless" server machines

Do not install ESET Smart Security on a "headless" server machine (a computer without a monitor and keyboard directly attached). ESET only recommends installing ESET NOD32 Antivirus, due to possible Personal firewall conflicts.

Default restrictions

The following instructions assume that default restrictions on your server prevent you from using Remote Desktop Connection to download ESET NOD32 Antivirus from the Internet directly onto the server's hard drive. If you have an unrestricted Internet connection on your server machine, click here for instructions to download and install normally.

  1. Download ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.x. On your local computer, select Save when prompted to save the file to the Desktop (or save directly to your software share folder on your Windows Home Server). You will need your unique username and password to download ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

    Have your credentials ready
